Riverwood Community Autumn Fair | 8.3.14

Riverwood Community Centre has been facilitating the Riverwood Festival (now the Riverwood Autumn Fair) for over 30 years and it has grown into a large community event. The day’s entertainment, activities and stalls are situated on the wetland grounds adjacent to the Community Centre on Belmore Road from 9am to 3pm.  This once a year celebration is also an opportunity for Centre to raise money to meet the needs of our community by providing resources for aged, people with disabilities, children, youth, families and volunteers,  but also to encourage community connectedness.

On the day, there had loads of fun and entertainment for people of all ages.  There were bargains to be bought at the Centre stalls, with the favourite op shop, second hand bookstall (worth a browse), and a garden stall, a craft stall with an array of beautiful and practical homemade goods.  I missed the Bake off and skateboard competitions because I was at the fun rides and animal farm abd busy tried out the multicultural food fair of Chinese, Vietnamese,  Kebabs and a BBQ. There alsi served Devonshire teas and rewl coffee too.  There had also an assortment of private stalls selling their wares as well as information from local services.

Also new this past year was an artist who will be drawing Chinese characters which can give people good luck, and we also visited the craft stall where there had craft demonstration provided by our talented volunteer leisure learning teachers.
The most fascinated show was the snake displaying! See the photos below.
